Originally from New Jersey, Danny Raymond, Jr. was introduced to drumming at the age of three by his father, drum instructor Danny Raymond, Sr. Since his dad was involved with the drum and bugle corps activity, Danny developed his technique by learning and playing rudiments. By age ten, he was performing in parades and exhibitions with various corps taught by his father and began to take lessons with various percussion teachers such as Gene Thaler and Glenn Weber. Elementary school through college saw participation in concert, jazz band and orchestra. He had the opportunity to spend time at the Interlochen Arts Academy as an exchange student his senior year in high school.
In 1987, Danny joined the New York Skyliners Drum and Bugle Corps. He played snare drum for the corps and wound up winning two consecutive individual snare drum championships at the Drum Corps Associates Solo and Ensemble competitions (1989 and 1990). He has served as a consultant for the Syracuse Brigadiers (1995, 1996, 1998), and Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps (1998). In 2005 and 2006, he was a percussion arranger and caption head of DCA finalist Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps. In 2009, Danny was very proud to serve as a snare technician for the DCI World Class Santa Clara Vanguard.
Danny relocated to Orlando, Florida in 1988 and was fortunate to land a job as a performer for the Walt Disney World Co. His Disney career, which spans over twenty years, includes playing snare drum for the Hollywood Brass at MGM Studios, drumset for the Hollywood Hitmen (also at MGM), and performing on trash cans and other assorted custodial items for the popular group Jammitors at EPCOT. Danny has also written for and taught high school marching bands in the Central Florida area as well as providing private instruction in technique and drum set since 2008 at Drums2Go. He is an adjudicator for the Florida Marching Band Coalition and Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit (Indoor Percussion). Danny's solo compositions have been published by Rudimental Publications, Row-Loff and is very proud of the release of his snare solo DVD "Let It Rip" with Tapspace Publications.
Another passion that showcases his talent is participation in the clinic/performance scene traveling throughout the United States, Canada, Japan and Europe. Danny was honored to present a clinic at the prestigious PAS Internation Convention (PASIC) in 2009 and has been fortunate to share the stage and perform with percussion/drumming greats such as Danny Gottlieb, Evelyn Glennie, Dom Famularo, Zoro, and the late great,Joe Morello. He is a proud endorser/clinician for Pearl/Adams, Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets, REMO Drumheads and StickTape.
